So you can drink what "the big boys" drink and play where the big boys play; but in the end, what does turning 21 really mean? Does it automatically make you a "man" (or a woman), does it make you smarter, or a better person; are you magically in-tune with life and have suddenly gained eternal knowledge? Nahh. And no one said you would or even should for that matter, so relax. It's just a question. Hell, if anything you're confused; more confused now than at any other point in your life. There's a lot going on right? You can drink, gamble, maybe you're even graduating soon - or probably pressed to catch up in units. So it's alright if you are, even better if you aren't. Unfortunately I am, and to be honest, I think it got worse.. Then again, for me, this confusion may only be felt because of some of the events that took place this summer; they've been the hardest to deal with, emotionally, than any other I have ever experienced... It's been tough, but "you gotta keep movin' forward, be strong."

I miss you more and more every day.

Santa Barbara

This past weekend the parents and I helped my sister move into to her new [but temporary] home on the U.C. Santa Barbara campus. Yeah, it is a bit sad knowing I can't see my baby sister until holiday breaks, but what can you do? This had to happen some time. Anyway, here are a couple shots from the trip. There's only a few; we were too busy running around trying to find everything Nicole needed to get settled. There aren't any shots of the campus, but I guess because there are so few, I used it an excuse to work on my PP, or Post-Processing, skills. Other than saying bye, it was a pretty fun trip, SB is way chill! I would not mind living there.

So, summer's over, school just started, and I missed the first day. Great way to start off the semester if you ask me! Anyway this past weekend, was the last weekend before school started which coincidentally was the same weekend of Sarah's birthday. There was dinner at Applebees then a bonfire at Ocean Beach. I wasn't able to go to the dinner because of work, but still managed to meet everyone for the bonfire. And what do you know, I had my camera with me!

L.A. - Day 4 "Pinky & a Bun"

Our last day... The last post, finally! L.A. was dope - from the beaches to the food, even Disneyland to the shops - it was legit; the only thing I would have changed was the length we were there for. 4 days and 3 nights is too short; next year, we need at least a week. But we'll see what happens, we're ALL turning 21! Hmm.. Vegas?

So to make a long story short... We woke up, checked out by 10, headed over to peep the Staples Center - F*ck the Lakers - [ I wanted to set the place on fire, but Mark wouldn't let me ], ate some killer hot dogs at Pinks, won Car Wars, then headed back home.

L.A. - Day 3 "Happiest Place on Earth"

= Disneyland. Is there any more that needs to be said? We were there from sun up to sun down; rode all the rides, ate unlimited BBQ for $20, and watched some fireworks. What more could you ask for? I mean come on, it's the "Happiest Place on Earth!" I would do it again in a second.

She asked Jaye, to dance. He was just being polite, you can't say no when you're asked to dance. Sorry for blurry pics. There were so many people.

And to think, we waited an hour for this ride, just so it could breakdown.

L.A. - Day 2 "California Dreamin"

This day was all about the beach, three to be exact. We started the day off at Manhattan Beach, and worked our way up the coastline to the famous Venice Beach, then Santa Monica Pier/Beach. There really isn't more to be said. We spent a good 3 1/2 to 4 hours at Manhattan, tackling waves that were over our heads; went back to the hotel, got dressed and headed to peep Muscle Beach, the B-ball Courts, and everything else that's associated with Venice. Then capped the night with the Santa Monica Pier. Overall, a pretty good 2nd day in L.A.

Venice was crackin. I had shops on my right, performers on the left, and crowds of people everywhere I looked. Frisco bums got nothing on these cats, at least one of them anyway. "Kick me in the Ass for $1," and Zonio did it!

Here are 2 shots that I like but couldn't decide which I wanted to use. No, they aren't photoshoped; they are 2 images taken at 2 different exposures. The one on the left was taken at 1/160 of a second, a f/3.5, and an ISO of 200; and the right image was taken at 1/1600 of a second with the same f# and ISO. What do you think?

L.A. - Day 1 "The Arrival"

The trip popped off right. We arrived in L.A. at around 9 in the morning without a hitch, and headed straight to the Infamous Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles. With no previous expectations, except for preparing to eat some BOMB ass food, we walked into the restaurant and took our seats. As we take in the surroundings, stunned that we were even in L.A., we realize that a Hip Hop Legend was sitting right next to us: the Human Beat Box, Doug E. Fresh. We were trippin'. At first, we didn't know if it was him or not, but I guess his manager or the guys he was with, overheard us talking and confirmed that it was THE Dougie Fresh. So we chopped it up with him for a bit, as we smashed on our food. Luckily, as we were finishing up, that same guy asked if we wanted to take a picture with him before they left, because to be honest we all wanted to ask, but we weren't trying to bug the man while he was eating. From that point on, things just kept getting better, and better.

After Roscoe's, we made our way down Hollywood Blvd. walkin' the Walk of Fame, taking in the sites; then after we hit up Fairfax to peep the shops. Real, laid back day; how could it jump of any better then it did? Stay tuned for Day 2.

Just got home.
We finally took a road trip. After talking about it year after year, me and the fellas (missing a few people) finally took a road trip to L.A. It lasted about 4 days and 3 nights and I took about 1500-1600 photos. So give me some time to sort through them all. In the mean time, the ones I have already went through, will be up ASAP. But since there are so many, I'm going split the 4 days into 4 different blog posts, so be patient!

Anyway, if I had to sum up this trip in one word, the first word that comes to mind is DOPE. Good company, laughs and food; the beach, the shops, and we even met a celebrity. I'd say we experienced L.A. to fullest, at least as much as one could in such a short amount of time, 4 days goes by pretty quickly despite waking up at sunrise, and going to sleep in the "wee" hours of the morning. I didn't want to leave. Then again who would, if they start school in a week?

So I went to an A's game with Heather last night. It was our 7th game of the season which also happened to be my birthday present from her. Even though there was no free giveaway, or birthday special, it was the perfect night at the ball park. I really didn't think much of this game as we took our usual seats, at the usual time, just behind the bullpen, preparing to watch the usual game; which for us means watching a win - the A's were 5-1 in the 6 games we've been to previously. This night, however, would be a little different. It would turn out to be an instant classic, or quite possibly considered a once in a lifetime affair, but in the end, I guess you could just call it: One for the Ages.

As the players began to take the field for their pregame warm up, I was feeling pretty confident. We had Gio Gonzalez on the mound who was coming off a great start against Cleveland on July 5th, striking out 8 to help the A's to a 5-2 victory. He was focused. Watching him stretch away from his teammates, only his ipod to keep him company, then later warming up in the bullpen only reassured this confidence. He looked solid, happy with his 'stuff,' ready to pitch a great game. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. It was terrible, he gave up a whopping 4 Home Runs in just 2.2 innings, giving us a huge 12-2 mountain to climb.

That didn't stop us, at the end of 4, we gained a little ground, bringing the score to 12-7. But in the 5th the Twins managed to manufacture another run. Which not surprisingly sent home roughly 1/2 of the 10,300 some odd crowd. Can't blame them, can you? A 6 run lead going into the 7th inning, crushes any hopes of a comeback, right? Especially with the way the A's have been playing lately.

Wrong. As some fans continued to trickle out of the Coliseum, the hopeful and encouraging Oakland Faithful stayed, and rightfully so, to witness the greatest comeback in Oakland A's history. The A's exploded for 7 runs in the 7th inning. It started off perfectly, producing 2 runs then working the Twins' bullpen to get the bases loaded. Next thing you know Matt Holliday makes his way to the plate, and Heather whispers to me: "He's going to hit a Grand Slam." I kinda brushed it off, wasn't expecting too much, I mean they just broguht in a new pitcher, Bob Keppel, so I was just hoping for any sort of run production. As Holliday stepped into the box those remaining in the stadium begin to chant "Lets's Go Oakland!" and every other "Oakland" I shouted, I could hear fans around me muttering: "Oh please, please, come on, please." Keppel, works the count to 1-2, then fires another fastball which forces Holliday to foul it off. There was a sigh of relief in the crowd, as we readied for the next pitch. At this moment the entire stadium comes to a hush, he winds up and fires, Holliday turns and launches a long fly ball into Centerfield, lifting us out of our seats, turning the sound of a mere 5,000 fans into an uproar of more than 50,000. You could hear my entire section, as this little white dot travels toward the fence, yelling "Go, go, go, YEAAAH!!" next thing you know I'm in the aisle with my hands in the air yelling as loud as I can, giving high fives to the people behind me. "He did it, he really did it," I said to myself as I gave Heather a high five. It was crazy. Then before we could even sit down, Jack Cust steps to the plate and bombs the go-ahead run against a new pitcher, Jose Mijares. I could not help myself, I almost knocked down heather, or so she says, giving high fives. Can you blame me? Its not like she was in danger of getting hurt! I did apologize though. So now that we had the lead, it was up to our bullpen to hold off the Twins' high powered offense. Geren sent in Brad Ziegler in the 8th to set it up for Michael Wuertz to get the save in the 9th. Everything went according to plan until the the final out of the game.

The count is 1-0 with runners on 1st and 2nd and 2 outs. Wuertz winds up, and throws a pitch straight into the dirt; it bounces off Suzuki and rolls all way to the backstop, sending cuddyer home. Scrambling, Suzuki shoots up from his crouched position to track down the ball. He can't find it. So frantically, we yell: "Behind you, it's behind you!" Finally he runs it down, and manages to toss a perfect ball to Wuertz who makes the tag in the nick of time. I was dumbfounded, that was the perfect way to end a brilliant game. In the words of Bill King: "Holy Toledo!"

- With no voice, and a giddy smile of amazement, this moment truly defines what it means to be a fan. This was without a doubt one of, if not THE best games I have ever been to.

A New Addition

You know when you're a kid and your parents ask you what you want for your Birthday or even for Christmas? Ya know? You're excited so you tell 'em, and think to yourself: "HEY, I'm actually going to get it this year!" But somewhere along the way they get confused turning what you said into a game of telephone and get you something completely different, or something that is close to what you wanted but not quite it. Well... This is nothing like that.

My parents completely surprised me with some new glass: a Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3. I say surprised because I honestly did not expect to get a present; at least one as big as this. I really don't try to ask for gifts anymore. I mean my parents feed me, house me, and even pay for my tuition. What more could I ask for? I got a job, if I want something I'll buy it. But, it is nice to know my parents have taken notice of my hobby.

David vs. Goliath

If you have not seen it already, here it is: In an attempt to boost TV ratings; Japan's leading MMA group, the DREAM promotion, put together a tournament themed "David vs. Goliath." In this tournament, undersized but determined fighters are put up against giant-shrek like beasts in what seems to be a plot to see who can last the longest in the ring. In this case, former Bash Brother and Oakland Athletic, Jose Canseco, makes his MMA debut; yes, I said MMA debut. The 6' 4", 240-pound Canseco took on the 7' 2", 330-pound Korean beast, Hong-man Choi. The rather dwarfed Canseco did connect on a couple punches and a kick to the mid-section; however, was no match for the Goliath-like Choi. But, I guess he did last 1:17 longer than I would expect a fighter with no real MMA training to go. I just hope he does not think he has a future in this sport. Don't quit your day job Jose!

So a Monday Night, you automatically think - "oh no, a school night, i can't go out!" - Right? Wrong, least not in our case. This was a random, yet chill, Monday night. Having 1 day left of school and Zonio home from Iraq for 2 weeks; I'm obviously ready for summer to get started. I was NOT trying to be at home. Going mad, bored at home at 10:00, I hit up Z to see what's good. I find out him and Jaye are about to head to SJ so he can get another tat (Yea, I didn't know shops were open this late either). But only seeing this done on Miami Ink, I decided to tag along. In the process of seeing this in person for the first time, I also got some pretty dope shots; not to mention a possible "connec-t" into the photography world.

You know you're hella Filipino when you have one of these!

Alibata: "Honor"

Monk, Zonio's tattoo artist, was feeling some of the pics I was taking and asked how much I would charge 'em to take some pictures of him and his pieces, so he can send it to some tattoo magazines. Suprised, and just diggin' the fact that im just some kid with a Nikon, I told him: "Shit, if you can get my name out there, I'd take em for free!" So he took my number down and, we'll wait to see what happens.

The Final Product

Once he finished, it was about 11:30 or so but, we were not trying to home yet. So we hit up everyone to see who is trying to kick it and we get a hold of Vergeo and Darren. We tell them to meet us at Z's in 20 minutes. Once we all get to Z's we try to figure out what to do. Well, we have a fridge full of beer, a fold out table, and two people who think they can't be beat (Jaye-Z). So, beer pong it is!

Finally the time has come, The Hundreds will be dropping it's Disney colab tee's this Thursday December 11, 2008 at both L.A. & S.F. locations.

Each of the Lost Boys gets their own t-shirt, offered in their own unique colorway and Hundreds black. ONLY 200 of each character, in each colorway, will be produced worldwide. In addition, they are releasing 2 hats in honor of Peter Pan and Captain Hook as well as 'exclusive online-only sweatshirts' (not pictured), that will release sometime next week.

And you can't forget about the ladies - 100 of each colorway will be produced.

Well my hard drive crashed. I'm still trying to do some things to get it working again but, more than likely it's done...

I have no idea why or how.. I was just chillin' listening to some music - which was saved to my hard drive btw - as i worked on my English paper and all of a sudden it stops. I tried unplugging and plugging it back in, nothing. Then Darren (from sooperfishal), who just walked into my dorm, asked if i tried restarting my computer. And for some odd reason I had not tried that yet. So as it was restarting I was feeling a bit of relief, as to maybe that's the reason the piece of shit was buggin' out. But, no. So much shit was on that hard drive: my music, my photoshop projects, and most importantly ALL my pictures - Everything from junior/senior year, to oregon and chris'. Sucks.

But anyway, here are some pics i took a while ago.

Day 5: Sayin' Goodbye

Another post before bed.
Finally the last day in Oregon. Woke up at around 9:00 in the morning, took a shower, and went to breakfast with the family. But when we got back we had to say our first round of goodbyes. It was not sad or anything, it was just time for a crap load of pictures. Why? Because my Aunt is finally passing on a vintage radio that belonged to my great grandmother. And because she was letting it go, she wanted to take pictures with it. Don't ask, I don't know. At that point, it was about 11 or 12 o'clock and our flight was not until 5:45. So I ended up just taking some random pictures around my grandmas house to pass the time.

Anyway, overall it was a great week, but I think it was a good time to go 'cause I don't know how much longer I could stand being in that town. Though it was nice to finally get away from the stresses of school and work. I ate a lot of good food and got to spend time with my grandma, and great aunt and uncle. What could be better? I'm glad I went.

Oh and Jon T. dont get your panties in a bunch.. I'll update this later tonight or tomorrow with pics from last night.

Day 4: Up In Lights

Figured I'd post this up before I go to bed.
So today is the day after Thanksgiving, "Black Friday", and I was stuck in Lakeside, Oregon. Great. I didn't do much of anything all day - woke up at around 10 and everyone was gone except for my sister. We just ended up watching TV and eating leftovers 'til everyone got home around 4, sounds exciting don't it? Not so much. Being so desperate to get out of the house my sister and I agreed to go with my parents and aunt to some park decorated with Christmas lights, which my grandma claimed to be "oh so beautiful." God what waste of time. We spent more time in line waiting to get into the damn park than actually admiring the lights. It was definitely not worth the hour we waited to get inside. The only entertaining part of the night was watching all the drunk teenage couples walk around or well, stumble around haha.

'Cause It's That Necessary

There are mixed feelings about Black Friday, some people cannot wait for it and others cannot stand it. Yet, sometimes its just that necessary. My family for example is definitely NOT froogle. They hate shopping on Black Friday; both my grandma and dad said that they wouldn't care if a TV was free they would not go out in the cold at 4 in the morning to wait in a line. The Hundreds however, was a whole other story.

A flier was passed out and posted on The Hundreds blog this week informing the people of a black friday sale. Rightfully so, the people started lining up outside long before opening (5 AM) forming a line that reached further than any other in Hundreds history - according to Bobby Hundreds. There were so many people lined up that there was a 10 minute rule implemented to all customers in the store. Is that even enough time?! The crazy things people do for a sale.

Day 3: The Feast

So I kinda skipped day 2 but that's alright nothing excited happened. Ha.

Thanksgiving.
Well if I'm not mistaken Thanksgiving is supposed to be a day dedicated to giving thanks and what not right? But over the years it kinda transformed into a day dedicated to over-stuffing yourself with turkey and pumpkin pie. Yeah sure argue with me all u want with the sides u have with the turkey and all the other deserts you eat after; blah, blah, blah! But no matter what you say, the day is really dedicated to eating turkey and pumpkin pie! Why? There is no other day of the year where someone takes the time to roast a damn bird for 5 hours and scarfs down some pumpkin and cool whip afterward. It's almost like stores only put these items on the shelf when its Thanksgiving! lol. Ok, I'm done with my bitch fit, back to the point. It was eating right? Well that is exactly what my family and I did, along with 2 other random people, who claimed to be my grandma's neighbors--A Paul Bunyan look alike and his wife who never stopped talking to take a breath. Ugh. It was a small get-together this year. But other than alla that, it was dope, lots of food! Lets get to the pics!

Oh, and P.S. - The Cowboys romped on the Seahawks 34-9 to keep their playoff hopes alive!

Day 1: The Departure

Today I left for Oregon with my family to visit my Grandma for Thanksgiving. She lives in a little town called Lakeside; which is by the beach, but that's it. There's nothing else out here! It's in the boonies. Oh man... I'll try to get some pictures up later so I can show you what I mean. Back to the point. How was the flight? It was interesting to say the least. It was a small, very loud dual propeller plane that looked like it wouldn't be able to get off the ground. A little sketchy if its your first time flying on one of these things. No joke. I mean there was a crack in the door that I could not stop staring at; what kind of shit is that!? But we made it safely.

To our surprise the North Bend Airport went through a bit of a renovation, both inside and out. They made the baggage claim trolley automatic, and the outside actually resembles a modern terminal! A+ North Bend.

Who would have thought so many people would be waiting to go to the middle of no where.

Last night was pretty chill. Haven't done something like this in forever because everyone has been busy with work and what not, so it was dope finally being able to chill with everyone. The Krew met up at BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse to grub, then headed over to this random spot up in the Mission Hills. I had never been there before but it was a koo, cuttie ass spot to post until hella Fremont heads started to show up. So we cut out and finished the night at the V=Lounge. Overall, the night was koo, the only downside was the fact that the waitress forgot about Rob's food, so he got stuck watching us eat til we got her attention. Good shit white Rob, haha!
